We spoke with Lisanne van Hasselaar, E-commerce clerk at ZOO&ZO.
How was ZOO&ZO founded?
Lisanne: “The store was initially a guppy-nursery and has been expanded into an animal specialty store. It is safe to say that ZOO&ZO has become a real understanding in Ede and surroundings and with 5000 m² we are the largest animal specialty store in the Benelux. We sell everything for a healthy ánd happy pet.’’
How do you distinguish yourself in the current market?
“What we find important is that we do not only sell products, but also offer our customers an experience. We have an in-house veterinary, you can wash your dog in our dog-wash, you can have lunch with us ánd have a children’s party at our location.”
Why did you choose to use marketplaces as additional sales channel?
“When speaking of omnichannel retail we can clearly see that, for the number of visitors in our physical store, it is of importance that we offer our products online as well, for instance on marketplaces. It increases our online visibility and reputation which in turn functions as an amplifier for the physical store.”

Why did you choose for EffectConnect?
“We never sold manually via marketplaces and we immediately started with the help of EffectConnect. At the time the interim manager, who used to work at bol.com, recommended EffectConnect. So the choice was made rather quick.”
The orders are imported directly into our Prestashop, so that is very pleasant. I can’t even begin to think about having to do all of this work manually!
How do you experience working with EffectConnect?
“I find the swift responses from the support desk very pleasant. Whenever we call or send an e-mail, the matter will be resolved within a day. That works very well. And the fact that the data is immediately imported into our Prestashop.”
